Director / Principal Consultant – Strategic Programs and Project Governance

Your mission

You will lead complex strategic programs bringing together several business units, internal teams, consulting firms, integrators, and technology vendors. You will put in place the governance mechanisms needed to ensure the alignment of decisions, the control of risks, and the realization of the expected benefits.

You will represent the client's interests with neutrality and ensure that the decisions made remain consistent with their strategic priorities, organizational capabilities, and performance objectives.

Key responsibilities

  • Structure the governance of programs, projects, and portfolios.
  • Clarify roles, responsibilities, and decision-making authority.
  • Establish steering committees and escalation mechanisms.
  • Translate strategic direction into execution plans.
  • Plan and coordinate the interdependencies between projects.
  • Oversee timelines, budgets, risks, and expected benefits.
  • Assess the organization's capacity to carry out the transformations.
  • Coordinate internal teams, consultants, integrators, and vendors.
  • Evaluate partners' performance and deliverables.
  • Conduct independent program reviews.
  • Quickly identify gaps and obstacles to execution.
  • Design and steer recovery plans.
  • Support the resolution of cross-functional issues.
  • Produce dashboards and executive reports.
  • Present findings and recommendations to executives.
  • Ensure the transfer of governance methods to internal leads.

Profile sought

  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in program leadership, transformation, or strategic consulting.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering complex, multi-vendor programs.
  • Ability to work with executive management, CIOs, CTOs, CISOs, and boards of directors.
  • Mastery of program, portfolio, and project governance.
  • Solid understanding of technology and organizational environments.
  • Ability to manage dependencies, risks, trade-offs, and sensitive situations.
  • Excellent judgment, influential leadership, and professional independence.
  • Excellent analytical, synthesis, and communication skills.
  • Professional French and English.

Assets

  • PgMP, PMP, MSP, PRINCE2, or equivalent certification.
  • Experience turning around troubled projects or programs.
  • Experience in digital transformation, cybersecurity, or artificial intelligence.
  • Knowledge of benefits and value management.
  • Experience in regulated sectors or critical infrastructure.
  • Experience as an executive, program director, or executive advisor.
