ISO/IEC 42001 – Governing artificial intelligence responsibly

Artificial intelligence management and governance

ISO/IEC 42001 is the first international management system standard dedicated to artificial intelligence. It sets out the requirements for creating, maintaining, and improving an AI management system in order to govern the responsible development, deployment, and use of AI.

It is becoming particularly strategic for organizations that develop AI products, embed AI in their processes, use autonomous agents, or apply AI in sensitive activities: finance, insurance, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, government, defense, human resources, professional services, and critical infrastructure.

Implementation makes it possible to structure the inventory of AI systems, responsibilities, risk and impact assessment, usage rules, human oversight, supplier management, performance monitoring, and the system life cycle.

Indicative effort: 4 to 8 months; 100 to 250 internal person-hours involving leadership, IT, security, legal, HR, and business owners; approximately 160 to 400 Quantum Beyond hours, depending on the number of AI systems and their risk level.

The Quantum Beyond approach can bring together ISO/IEC 42001, AI Governance Office, AI Onboarding, QKS, IAM, cybersecurity, and agent governance in order to avoid a purely documentary implementation.

Your organization thereby gains demonstrable AI governance, improves its control of risk, and creates the conditions to accelerate AI adoption with greater confidence.
