ISO 22301 – Business continuity and organizational resilience

Business continuity and organizational resilience

ISO 22301 is the leading international standard for business continuity management systems. It helps organizations anticipate disruptions, reduce their impact, maintain priority activities, and restore operations within controlled timeframes. The edition currently available for certification remains ISO 22301:2019; a new edition is under development.

It is particularly important for critical infrastructure, governments, financial services, healthcare, manufacturers, technology companies, logistics, telecommunications, and organizations for which a prolonged interruption would carry significant financial, regulatory, or operational consequences.

Implementation typically includes the business impact analysis, the identification of critical dependencies, recovery objectives, continuity and crisis plans, disruption scenarios, responsibilities, and exercises.

Indicative effort: 4 to 8 months; 100 to 300 internal person-hours spread across several functions; approximately 150 to 350 Quantum Beyond hours.

The Quantum Beyond approach makes it possible to integrate operational continuity, cyber resilience, technology dependencies, cloud, suppliers, data, telecommunications, and cyberattack scenarios.

ISO 22301 thus helps the organization move beyond prevention alone. It builds the capacity to keep operating when a supplier fails, when a system becomes unavailable, when a cyberattack occurs, or when a major event disrupts operations.
