Senior Consultant – Data Governance, Privacy, and Information Sovereignty

Your mission

You will help organizations establish coherent governance of their data, from creation through to destruction. You will reconcile business needs, the use of artificial intelligence, the protection of personal information, regulatory obligations, and digital sovereignty objectives.

You will work with those responsible for data, privacy, cybersecurity, technology, business, and compliance.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct data governance assessments.
  • Inventory and classify organizational data.
  • Map flows, processing activities, owners, and jurisdictions.
  • Clarify data-related responsibilities.
  • Define governance policies, standards, and rules.
  • Establish quality, traceability, and lineage requirements.
  • Govern collection, use, sharing, retention, and destruction.
  • Embed the principles of minimization and privacy by design.
  • Assess cross-border transfers and vendor dependencies.
  • Govern the data used to train, enrich, or operate AI systems.
  • Advise teams on anonymization, pseudonymization, and synthetic data.
  • Take part in privacy impact assessments.
  • Define control and accountability mechanisms.
  • Support internal teams in implementing the measures.
  • Develop the skills and autonomy of those responsible.
  • Produce recommendations for executives and governance committees.

Profile sought

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in data governance, privacy, information management, or compliance.
  • Experience designing or modernizing a governance program.
  • A solid understanding of the data lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of the challenges related to AI and sensitive data.
  • The ability to work in multi-vendor environments.
  • Excellent analytical, structuring, and writing skills.
  • The ability to bring together technology, legal, and operational stakeholders.
  • Professional French and English.

Assets

  • CDMP, CIPM, CIPP/C, CIPP/E, or equivalent certification.
  • Experience as a data or privacy officer.
  • Knowledge of Quebec's Law 25, the GDPR, and the applicable Canadian frameworks.
  • Experience in data architecture or metadata management.
  • Knowledge of cloud environments and AI architectures.
  • Experience in a regulated sector.
