Would your insurance really cover a major incident?

Many organizations believe they are adequately or sufficiently protected by their insurance… until a major incident occurs. In reality:

  • certain exclusions apply
  • many indirect costs are not covered
  • reputational losses are difficult to compensate
  • prolonged interruptions can exceed the coverage in place

Even with excellent coverage, the human, operational, and commercial impacts often remain considerable. Above all, the more comprehensive the protection, the higher the premiums become—sometimes out of reach for many SMBs. The best strategy therefore remains:

  • prevention
  • risk reduction
  • operational resilience
  • incident preparedness

Modern cybersecurity aims as much to reduce the likelihood of an incident as to limit the impacts when an event occurs.
